The first question I ask to my clients is always “how can we help?” I always take the time to understand what my client is trying to achieve, why, and how that has served them thus far, to build an accurate picture of their individual circumstances.
I have over 35 years’ experience advising clients, so the second question I ask is to myself – “given my knowledge of the industry, what would I do if I were in the same situation as my client, sharing the same attitude to risk, concerns and objectives?”
For me, this profession is about building long-term relationships with my clients and their families and explaining complex legislation and inter-related factors (such as investment returns, interest rates, economic issues and political risks) whilst trying to avoid a maelstrom of jargon.
