International Women’s Day – #breakthebias

International Women’s Day takes place on 8 March to celebrate the social, political, cultural and economic achievements of women across the world.

The day also marks a call to action for accelerating women’s equality and is supported by governments, academic institutions and forward-thinking organisations around the world.

However, this International Women’s Day is not about us, as war ravages Ukraine, women from all walks of life are taking up arms and support those that are fighting. This is not something that they were ever expected to do, and they are giving their lives for their country. On this International Women’s Day we stand with the women of Ukraine as they fight to free their country from invasion.

This year’s theme is break the bias, which is apt for a firm in the male dominated world of financial services. For most of our history our Business Director has been a women, meaning that our recruitment and support for women in our firm is cutting edge. Our conscious choice not to hire based on image has brought us a balanced leadership team, with women heading half our departments. Together with our culture of freedom, we hope to continue to attract more female partners from this strong base.

We asked several members of our Diversity and Inclusion Committee and our Managing Partner what #breakthebias means to them. Their feedback will be shared over the rest of this week.

Fiona Oliver, Business Director
“At Partners Wealth Management we break the bias by constantly striving to build an inclusive work culture, allowing women to flourish.”
Toto James, Marketing Manager
“Diversity and inclusivity have developed considerably over recent years, but there is still much more to do. Together we can #breakthebias and create a world where difference is valued and celebrated.”
James Roberts, Managing Partner
“What does #breakthebias mean to me? Simple – a better world and better business. Because balance leads to better decisions and diversity brings in perspectives that help avoid extreme actions.”
