Will the UK qualification scheme open up the US wealth market?

Nathan Prior, Partner and Head of PWM International was invited by International Adviser to discuss the recent initiative by the UK Government to allow future collaboration with the regulators of wealth industries in various overseas countries including Singapore, Australia and the USA. The scheme could potentially help develop relationships across the world within financial services sectors.

Nathan was asked to consider the scheme in regards to the position with the US along with the Personal Finance Society (PFS) and the Chartered Institute for Securities and Investment (CISI) . He commented that whilst helpful, the bigger issue is the need to be regulated in both jurisdictions, rather than qualifications being the only barrier to US businesses advising UK residents and vice versa.
